5 Easy Steps to Getting Your Grill Ready for Summer

Despite these gloomy past few days, the sun keeps poking out to let us know that summer is almost upon us. That means it's time to bring out the patio furniture, wash off the deck, and brush off that barbecue! We always have people asking us how to get ready for grilling season. Here are a few things we do every year for our own barbecues:

1. Give your grill a good cleaning: Have all of you cleaning supplies ready and start your season with a beautifully cleaned grill. Take off that grill cover and first make sure you wipe off the exterior. Check to make sure your flavourizer bars are in good shape. Refer to you manual for specific cleaning instructions for your burners and other parts of the grill.

2. Inspect all hoses and fee tubes: Once your cleaning is done, it's a good idea to visually inspect all hoses and feed tubes on your grill. Look for any crimps, scratching and/or punctures; if you detect any of these, it's time to replace the hoses.

3. Do a complete leak test of the grill: A leak test should be preformed any time your grill has been in storage for a prolonged length of time, or when you're changing any components on your grill.

4. Check all Ignition Parts: Once a year it is a good idea to replace the ignition battery and check all electrode leads. Ensure the tips of the electrodes are clean with no grease or rust built-up, light sandpaper the electrodes.

5. Ensure you're fully equipped: Before your inaugural grill, make sure you have your food ready (obviously), your grills and brushes for cleaning up after grilling, a full bag of charcoal, and if you have a liquid propane barbecue, that's it's full.
